Reflection

Over the past week I have had to reflect on a very touchy subject for me, dunk driving and drunk driving accidents. From going through the celebrities who died due to drunk driving to reflecting on a drunk driving accident involving my family and all the trauma it brought to me. But now it is not up to me alone it is up to all of us. We need to educate our friends and pass on this information to them and prevent them from becoming another statistic or story. Tell them it does not only hurt them but it also hurts their family much worse. So please if you or your friends have a problem please get them help ASAP

  1. I have a few comments to add to this topic, and I thank you for bringing it up because we all can share in the horrow stories besides the well-known celebrities that you have named:

    1) I believe the incident you are talking about involved your brother who is also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Maryland. It did not involve your other brother who was not allowed admission into the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Most fraternity kids, especially those in Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Maryland abuse alcohol and often times decide that they should operate a vehicle. This is unacceptable and puts not just their lives in danger but everyone else that they share the road with. The fact that Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Maryland finds drunk driving acceptable is completely rediculous.

    2) Your oldest brother, Hirsh, has been driving around people for years. Sure, Hirsh has gotten into countless accidents and has blamed "deer" or hit trees. Despite the danger of getting into Hirsh's car every time he drives, I would rather be in Hirsh's car than be driven by a drunk driver or any driver from Pi Kappa Alpha. It is a good thing Hirsh drives people around, because he has limited the amount of drunk drivers on the road by taking on the responsibility.

Keep up the good work Zach, I look forward to reading many more posts

  2. @metzger:

I feel like you shouldn't put out the fraternity's business out there. While it may be true, it could also be possible that wheather these people would be part of pike or not, they would still abuse alcohol.

I'm not defending them, but ur statements, such as "Most fraternity kids, especially those in Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Maryland abuse alcohol and often times decide that they should operate a vehicle." make fraternity's look really bad, and if you are in one, you would understand that a lot more things go on behind closed door then drinking, and the only difference about fraternal drinking and drinking with your buddies who are not in a fraternity, is that it is more organized, and while your buddies may not always have your back, your brothers will ALWAYS be there for you.

I'm not a member of Pike, so that's not the reason I'm saying that. I am part of a fraternity though, so please don't bad mouth fraternities, unless you are part of one. And if you are part of one, you wouldn't bad mouth it anyway...
